It is now bankrupt. Thanks to government subsidies, the renewable energy industry in China has been able to lower the cost of solar energy. But the industry is highly dependent on subsidies at a time when governments are under pressure to cut spending. China’s promotion has left production capacity at levels that outstrip demand, causing financial problems for the long-term sustainability of the industry. Are world powers doing enough to create sustainable environmental policies that help both the environment and companies thrive? Thanks to government subsidies, the renewable energy industry in China has been able to lower the cost of solar energy.
